The Mosaic Learning Journey is a thematic integrated approach involving both adult-led and child-led investigation and learning.
Most of the time, children at Mosaic will be working through the learning journey, particularly Grades 1 to 6.
DISCOVER
The Learning Journey begins with discovery. Teachers serve as guides introducing the theme of interest to the students. Students also have the opportunity to select their own theme for inquiry.
EXPLORE
Students explore the many directions of learning related to the theme. Teachers encourage students to explore using the Mosaic Directions of Learning symbolized by the compass route.
INVESTIGATE
When exploration reveals particular areas of interest, students investigate aspects of the theme in detail. Teachers work with students to develop their skills and competencies including critical thinking and problem solving.
MAP
Mapping symbolizes the students sharing of their personal experience and rewards from the learning journey. The map in only symbolic and can be any type of expression that shares their experience. Teachers work to develop communication skills and creative expression.
